Eurohouse, an up and coming developer from West Vancouver approached us with a challenging site. After unsuccessfully working with previous architectural firms to obtain the dwelling size they required for the lot, Rommel Design was retained to design a modern family home on a site with a floor space ratio of approx. 4,000 SF. However, our client's wish was for the house to be around 7,000 SF. This was furher compromised by a riparian (streamside protection) setback requirement on the south east corner of the lot. Working with one of the top environmental consultants in the area, Alex Sartori, we were able to develop a design scheme sensitive to the required streamside, and more than acceptable to our client, and not to forget West Vancouver's building officials.
